A pharmaceutical company has pleaded guilty to importing hundreds of thousands of illegal prescription drugs and counterfeit medicines into the United States from India, a plea from the US Attorney General’s Office said.
The US Attorney General’s Office said the company had imported more than 30,000 illegal prescription drugs into the United States from India from 2009 to 2010.
The company also imported six,000 counterfeit pharmaceutical drugs that were not approved for use in the United States.
The investigation found that the company’s products were exported from India and had been shipped to the United States from India.
In addition, the company had shipped the drugs to China, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.
US Attorney General’s Office said the company had conspired with several other large companies to influence the U. S. government to use its drugs to promote their pharmaceutical products.
The US Attorney General’s Office said the companies have been found guilty and are cooperating with the Department of Justice, under U. governmentDOJ seal.
The criminal indictment is sealed and is due to be filed in the Eastern District of New York on or about January 1, 2011.
